Step 1: Choose Your Camping Mug’s Decal In Cricut Design Space

There are lots options when it come to this Cricut project! You can make your own design, or use one of the many ready-made designs available, or there are more personalized and detailed decals available for additional purchase. First you are going to want to measure your mug, cup or tumbler that you are applying the decal to, and make your cup template in Cricut Design Space to be those measurements when you are sizing and designing your decal.

My first blunder was that in a rush I skipped the step aforementioned and had to adjust my decal’s writing to the side of my mug, instead of the writing being underneath the decal’s image. Please, learn from my mistakes!

Step 2: Load Your Cricut Joy Smart Vinyl Into Your Cricut Joy Machine

Searching for how to make and apply vinyl decals for mugs with your Cricut Joy? Hannah, from the popular lifestyle blog Honey & Betts, shares all her beginner tips and tricks to make a dishwasher safe vinyl decal for mugs, cups, and tumblers.

When you are ready with your finalized decal design (double or triple check the decal’s measurements will fit on your mug!), then press “Create”! You will be instructed to choose your material on your device, and instructed to load the material into the machine.

This is your time to gently lead the front of your Cricut Joy Smart Vinyl into the track on the edges on the front of the machine and push the material closer to the roller. Your material will be loaded when you hear and see the Cricut Joy roll the edge of the material inward.

Step 3: Wait For Your Cricut Joy To Cut Your Design

How to get started with your Cricut Joy? Start by making yourself or a loved one a gift of a custom camping mug! Hannah, from the popular lifestyle blog Honey & Betts, shares her 6 easy steps to making dishwasher proof camping mugs!

The most hypnotizing part of your project is watching the Cricut Joy effortlessly and seamlessly cut your design into the vinyl! Grab a drink and snack, and enjoy watching this step!

Step 4: Use Your Cricut Weeder To Remove The Negative Space Of Your Design

How to get started with your Cricut Joy? Start by making yourself or a loved one a gift of a custom camping mug! Hannah, from the popular lifestyle blog Honey & Betts, shares her 6 easy steps to making dishwasher proof camping mugs! Grab your weeder, scraper, and Cricut Joy to create!

Now depending on what design you chose, you will need to remove the excess material with your Cricut Weeder so that your camping mug’s decal is visible and ready to apply.

For simple designs, you are removing the negative space of the image or words you chose. Don’t forget the inner parts of letters, if you chose a word or phrase for your decal. Your excess material can be put in the waste basket.

Step 5: Cut Your Transfer Tape And Apply It To Your Decal

How to get started with your Cricut Joy? Start by making yourself or a loved one a gift of a custom camping mug! Hannah, from the popular lifestyle blog Honey & Betts, shares her 6 easy steps to making dishwasher proof camping mugs! Grab your weeder, scraper, and Cricut Joy to create!

The reason Cricut Transfer Tape is awesome, is that it takes your decal from the white backing it’s on while you cut it and it transfer it to your mug without mistakes.

You can use the Cricut XL Scrapper to press the air bubbles out of the transfer tape, to secure the transfer tape to your decal well. Then when it is ready, you peel your decal from it’s backing and it is primed for applying to your mug!

Step 6: Apply Your Vinyl Decal To Your Camping Mug

How to get started with your Cricut Joy? Start by making yourself or a loved one a gift of a custom camping mug! Hannah, from the popular lifestyle blog Honey & Betts, shares her 6 easy steps to making dishwasher proof camping mugs! Grab your weeder, scraper, and Cricut Joy to create!

Line up your decal (but be careful, the reverse of the decal is very sticky) and press it firmly to your mug. Again using the Cricut XL Scrapper seal the decal to the mug with a bit of pressure. Press any air bubbles out from the design.

Step 7: Remove Your Transfer Tape From The Mug

How to get started with your Cricut Joy? Start by making yourself or a loved one a gift of a custom camping mug! Hannah, from the popular lifestyle blog Honey & Betts, shares her 6 easy steps to making dishwasher proof camping mugs! Grab your weeder, scraper, and Cricut Joy to create!

This can be a tricky part if you have delicate or small parts of your decal – I find using the scrapper against the other side to slowly maneuver the transfer tape away from the decal works well. Use your Cricut tools to get the finished result that you want – sometimes it takes a little creativity in this step.

Optional Dishwasher Safe Step

If you would like to make your Cricut Vinyl Decal dishwasher safe or dishwasher friendly, I highly recommend put a thin layer of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge. Use a foam paint brush and apply 3 layers (drying in between) of the Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge – it has to be that specific kind of Mod Podge!

I hope you enjoyed this super cute Cricut camping mug decal tutorial!

How To Make Family Videos On Your Phone!

I treasure the family videos from my childhood – but that was the 1990’s when everyone had a handheld video camera. I tried toting around my DSLR camera to capture videos of my kids but it wasn’t practical, the process of uploading the videos to my computer or phone was too much. There had to be an easier way how to make family videos on your phone!

That’s when I started capturing small video clips on my iPhone of my babies, toddlers, and big kids. It became effortless to make simple candid family videos with these simple step below.

Here are my 8 steps to making quality family home videos on your phone:

  1. Take 30 second to 1 minute clips throughout the year of special events and everyday moments with your kids and family on your phone while in landscape mode (holding your phone horizontal).
  2. Save all of the videos clips for 6 month increments, then add the short video clips into your video editing app, I use iMovie.
  3. Rearrange the video clips in chronological order in the video editing app.
  4. Adjust the transition edits between the videos to your preference, I prefer the clean cut, no transition option between my video clips.
  5. Save the video to your phone, then AirDrop the large combined video to your laptop (AirDrop is applicable for Apple products, utilize email between phone and computer otherwise).
  6. Plug your external DVD burner into the USB port of your computer. The appropriate program should pop up on your computer when the DVD burner is attached to your computer.
  7. Select the large video files you want to burn onto the blank DVD disc. If it rejects your file, it’s too long of a video, and you will need more than 1 blank DVD. You can split up your large video into 2 videos in the editing app to accommodate the space available on each DVD.
  8. Voila! Label your DVDs and keep them in a DVD case for watching together as a family.

If you have questions on the process and always reach out in the comments or find me on Instagram to message me! I hope this helps you record candid moments with your family that you can enjoy in years to come.

Do you have pink undertones?

If you’re reading this blog post scratching your head to figure out if you have pink undertones or not, here is a simple way to check if you have pink undertones, yellow undertones or equal parts of both.

Look at your veins in your wrist, do they appear blue-ish or green-ish or a bit of both? When you wear jewelry to you lean more towards wearing gold or silver?

If you have blue veins and think silver looks better with your skin tone, you probably have cooler, pink undertones.

If you have green veins and think gold looks better with your skin tone, you most likely have warmer, yellow undertones.

3 Things To Think About When Looking For Travel Insurance While Pregnant

Hannah, from the popular Canadian motherhood blog Honey & Betts, shares 3 things to think about when looking for travel insurance while pregnant. She also shares her experience with finding travel insurance for pregnancy after 32 weeks in Canada. Check it out!

We are finally planning our trip (our babymoon) to Arizona at the beginning of the 3rd trimester! We want to be smart about travelling so I will need pregnancy travel insurance in case I go into emergency labour, which I don’t for see happening with all my overdue babies, but you should always be prepared! Especially if you’re going on a babymoon in the 3rd trimester!

We just signed with a new health insurance provider, but if you know us we want to shop around before we commit!

You don’t have to go with the same place as you already have insurance – and not all travel insurance while pregnant is the same! Here are some things you need to take into consideration while shopping around for travel insurance while pregnant:

  1. Time of eligibility. All travel insurance policies are different – they mainly differ about when you’re eligible in your pregnancy to be covered for emergency labour and delivery costs while travelling abroad. Some state you are ineligible after being 30 weeks pregnant, some say after being 32 weeks pregnant (or 8 weeks from your due date, but same thing!). I’m sorry to say that you’ll be hard-pressed to find travel insurance for pregnancy after 32 weeks – so make sure you read thoroughly through all the travel insurance policies before you apply for your own! P.S How I find their pregnancy eligibility is I open the online policy and then use the finder application through “command + F” on Mac and type in “pregnancy”, it brings you to the right section of eligibility!
  2. List of benefits. There are some Canadian travel insurance options that are similar and some that are very different – varying amounts and access of maximum benefit cap, to hospital room coverage, to physician services, to the many, many more options available! Like I mentioned before, read the benefits as well as the policy – weigh the options and see what fits best for your situation.
  3. Single or family rate. When applying for travel insurance it is not specifically named “pregnancy travel insurance” – it’s just travel insurance so you are able to get a group rate, even if it’s only your spouse and yourself going, so everyone can be covered medically while you are away. Typically it doubles your quote, it could be $39 (single rate, covering yourself) or $78 (family rate, covering both your spouse and yourself) for 8 days coverage.

I will be 30 weeks pregnant at the end of our trip so I’m glad we have so many options for travel insurance but I still prefer the pregnancy travel insurance options that offer eligibility to women who are 32 weeks pregnant. Those insurance providers in Canada are:

Destination Travel Group

Blue Cross Travel Insurance

The insurance providers that offer eligibility to women who are 31 weeks pregnant (or 9 weeks away from their expected due date of delivery) are:

Manulife Travel Insurance

RSA Insurance

GMS Insurance

Allianz

The only site that left me in a conundrum was TuGo, that allows you to look at multiple options for each province, but you cannot view the policy until after you purchase it… so I do not encourage you to purchase your travel insurance from TuGo because it’s a guessing game of what you get from the policy of your choosing!

The Alberta insurance options that TuGo partners with are: London Drugs Insurance, ATB Financial Insurance, Travel Guardian, Belairdirect, Simpson Group, and Western Financial Group.

I’ve tried to do independent research from the TuGo site on each of these insurers, but they all lead back to the TuGo website without mentioning their individual travel insurance policy. I tried! Hopefully, they are able to change the steps of purchase before you read your policy soon because the TuGo website has a nice flow to it.

I hope this helped you in finding the best pregnancy travel insurance for your next babymoon!
