Beautycounter Holiday Collection | Gifts That Last

Beautycounter Holiday Collection

Anyone else a gift giving fanatic?

Both Matt’s side and my side of our families pull names to determine who buys gifts for who. I love giving the perfect gift, I want to get whoever’s name I draw a gift they would actually love.

I could hardly keep from bursting when the Beautycounter Holiday Collection arrived last week, and I’m so excited to share what is in these gorgeous red boxes!

Glow And Go Mini Oils | Wear it alone or with moisturizer, these face oils are skin changing. The No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil (with Vitamin C) brightens and revitalizes skin. The No. 2 Plumping Facial Oil (with argan oil) helps firm and plump, and smooth the appearance of fine lines. The No. 3 Balancing Facial Oil (with wild chamomile) helps balance, nourish, and sooth skim.

Perfect Pout Trio Nude | I’ve never been a fan of lip glosses, I associate memories of sticky, 90’s styled lip glosses from Claire’s when I think of lip gloss. But with the new infusion of fresh peppermint into these smooth, hydrating nude lip glosses – they’ll be making a new home in my purse this winter.

Holiday Soap Trio | Lavender & Vanilla scent calms and soothes. Ylang & Mandarin scent refreshes and awakens. Citrus & Chamomile scent has warm notes. Perfect for anyone looking to add a little extra luxury to your bath.

Ultimate Nudes Eyeshadow Palette |  A total of 18 eyeshadows in 1 palette, I’ve never had such a large palette but I can already see the possible combinations are endless! There are 5 perfectly paired trios, and then 3 universal shades: black, gold, and eggshell. This palette also comes with a dual ended brush.

Colour Intense Lip Set | These 5 stunning, colour popping lipsticks for only $108 ($190 value) are blowing my mind. From classic red to rich berry to rosy pink to tawny nude to luminous mauve, you’ll be giving the gift of the year! They also have a light mint scent from peppermint oil, to get into the Holiday spirit, and contain no synthetic flavours, fragrances or chemicals.

Illuminating Trio | I have been head over heels for these highlighters since they announced they would be joining the Holiday makeup line! Each one (pearl, rose, bronze) is sheer and buildable. I love highlighting above my cheek bone with the pearl, using the rose on the apples of my cheeks, and applying the bronze in the shallows of my cheek bones. And don’t forget to blend!

Winter Jewels Palette | I can’t wait to play around with these rich, jewel toned shadows to make some dramatic festive daytime and evening looks. I already have fallen in love with the 3 highlighters – they give your skin a soft, warm glow rather than a frosty highlighted look.

Which products are you going to put on your wishlist?

Citrus Autumn Punch | Delicious Thanksgiving Drinks With White Wine

citrus autumn punch with white wine holiday citrus punch

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to bring family and friends together! And hosting doesn’t have to be stressful when you make and plan meals/drinks ahead of time.

Matt always teases me for not liking to drink wine straight, but I love injecting different flavours into it – like this citrus white wine punch.

I recently had my best friends over for a girl’s night and this punch was a hit! I can’t wait to serve my Citrus Holiday Punch for Thanksgiving.

Merry BLOGMAS | Best Christmas Movies

Edmonton Blogger

Who doesn’t like to curl up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and a hot drink to watch a Christmas movie? It’s the one time of year when it’s acceptable to do a movie marathon without getting those side glances of disapproval.

Bring on the hours of Christmas movies!

Santa Clause | It must be because I was a young child when this movie came out but I just realized that the title of this movie is “Clause” instead of “Claus”. If that isn’t genius marketing I don’t what is!

The Holiday | My favourite Christmas chick flick! I love Jude Law (except his love affairs in real life) and Cameron Diaz, and Kate Winslet and Jack Black. The end just melts my heart everytime!

Jack Frost | This is such a sappy, make you squirm with awkwardness but that’s what makes you grin from ear to ear when watching. But it wouldn’t be complete without a few tear jerking scenes.

White Christmas | Can you believe I had not watched this movie until this year? My friends were in disbelief when they learned this so I felt compelled to watch it. If you like oldies like Singing in the Rain you’ll love this movie!

Any Home Alone Movie | These are a classic Christmas movie! The iconic “keep the change you filthy animal” quote will be on sweaters, mugs, and throw pillows for years to come.

A Charlie Brown Christmas | Charlie Brown specials are the best. They’re honest, nostalgic, and relatable. This is a family favourite of ours that everyone enjoys!

Elf | One of the greatest Christmas movies ever (if not THE best). Will Ferrell is a certain kind of funny but in this movie the whole family will be laughing.

Die Hard | Matt requested this movie would be on the list… I have never seen it but I suppose if your looking for an action Christmas flick this would be it!

The Muppet Christmas Carol | It’s a family/kid friendly version of the original Christmas Carol, which has an amazing moral message.

Merry BLOGMAS | Why We Don’t Send Letters To Santa

Raising Children To Believe In Jesus

photos by Bespoke Photography | gingerbread by The Art Of Cake | wreath by Flowers By Willows

Here is some shocking news: Matt and I don’t do the whole Santa Claus thing with our daughters.

Sure, they know about Santa through the multiple times we’ve listened to Michael Buble’s Christmas album but we don’t centre Christmas around Santa.

Because for our family Christmas is about Jesus Christ and his birth.

Honestly, I was unsure how I would be teaching my children why we celebrate Christmas because I was raised believing in Santa and came to know Jesus as my personal saviour when I was a teenager. So, there was a period of time between when I knew Santa didn’t exist to when I understood the true meaning of Christmas.

But thankfully my 3 year old has been asking me to tell her the Christmas story like a broken record so it’s made me brush up on the details of Jesus’ birth. So what do I share with her?

It goes something like this:

A long time ago there was a man and lady named Mary and Joseph. They loved each other very much and were going to get married. Then one night an angel came to Mary in a dream and told her that she had been chosen for a very special job. She would become pregnant and give birth to a boy named Jesus, God’s son, who would be the king of all kings. An angel also went to Joseph and told him to marry Mary, even though she was pregnant, because the baby was the Son of God. So Mary and Joseph got married.

When Jesus was almost ready to be born, Mary and Joseph had to travel back to Joseph’s hometown Bethlehem to be counted by the government. But when they got to the town there was no room for them to stay in the inn. So they had to stay in a stable with the animals, and that’s where Mary gave birth to Jesus. She wrapped him in cloth and laid him in a manger.

People came to visit Jesus and worship him. Three wise men had followed a star all the way to Bethlehem and found Jesus. They brought presents of gold, frankincense and myrrh. There were also shepherds who found Jesus, thanks to an angel telling them that a new King was being born in Bethlehem.

And that is the Christmas story – of course there are more details into King Herod and the shepherds with the angels but this is the story we tell our 3 year old when she asks. It’s the truth of Jesus’ birth and the reason for the season!

Hope you all enjoy your Christmas Eve Eve! If you have more questions on what we believe as a family, you can find our beliefs here.
