The Ultimate Girls Calgary Weekend | Hotel Elan | Downtown Calgary

Hotel Elan Is Calgary’s Modern Hotspot Hotel

This past weekend was my road trip to Calgary with my long time best friends and this weekend getaway we stayed at Hotel Elan – 1122 16 Ave SW.

It is the ideal location just off 17th Avenue where all the stunning restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques are.

The front desk staff at Hotel Elan were super efficient, relatable, and friendly. We had no idea how to get into the underground parkade and felt silly when we arrived in our 2017 Ford F150, and they kindly explained how to and that our truck would fit into their parkade.

We stayed in a breathtaking Two Bedroom Serenity Suite – it felt like it was nearly as big as my apartment! The two separate bedrooms each had a fluffy king size bed, ironing board and iron, iHome, flat screen T.V, safe, closet, and mirror.

The bathroom was exquisite. From the heated toilet seat (which makes me chuckle because it was surprisingly comforting), to the life changing shower and the giant tub, to the complimentary L’Occitane products – the bathroom had everything you wanted from a boutique hotel and more.

In the living common area there was a flat screen T.V, meeting desk that seats 6, chaise sofa and modern chairs, private balcony, and Euro style kitchen. I was amazed that the kitchen was stocked with cups, mugs, wine glasses, mini fridge, gourmet pots, Keurig brewer, stovetop burners, and microwave. It had literally anything and everything you needed.

There were lots of laughs this weekend but in the end I was the butt of the joke (besides my friend starting to order her food when the waiter was not there to take it) when I tried to get out on to the balcony. My friends had been effortlessly in and out but when it came to me opening the balcony door I could not figure out what I was doing wrong! After my friends watched my (humorous) tiring struggle to figure it out they informed me I was simply turning it the wrong way.

It was worth the struggle because our south facing balcony received the warm morning sun making it perfect to drink coffee and watch people enjoying their morning walks.

And I can’t forget to mention the delicious breakfasts served every morning – everyday had fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, granola, cereal, eggs, hashbrowns, toast, pancakes, juice, and a coffee station. They also have featured items like on our first morning it was quiche, bacon, and crab cakes. The second morning had french toast, ham, amd sausage. We were so well fed, it started our days off just right.

So if you’re planning your next visit to Calgary Hotel Elan should be the top of your list of places to stay! I can’t wait for our next girl’s trip, as this one is going to be hard to beat!

Arizona Adventures | Spring Maternity Style | Pink Blush Giveaway

maternity maxi dress summer spring maternity stylematernity maxi dress summertassel maxi maternity dressSantan Village, Arizona mom holding baby

Like I said before on Instagram, it feels like this pregnancy has flown by as I am already 22 weeks pregnant! Right now we are scoping out names like crazy because Matt and I can hardly find one name we both like.

Our (but really it’s MY) name qualification checklist is long but we’ll keep looking at baby name lists until we find a couple names we can agree one. I love names that start with vowels, that are long-ish, and unique but traditional names, plus if it’s biblical that’s a bigger bonus.. The kicker is finding a biblical name that is unique but not bizarre (like Nebuchadnezzar or Tirzah)… but I like also Grace as a possibility for a girl but Matt does not like “word names”. See what I mean? We have a lot more baby research ahead of us!

But for now let’s head into this next G I V E A W A Y! I’ve partnered with Pink Blush to giveaway a $50 gift certificate! I’ve been wearing all my Pink Blushes dresses this week (here, here, and here) to update my Spring maternity style, and I know you’ll find something you love from there!

How To Survive Staying In A Hotel | Travel Skincare Essentials

Dry Skin Travel Skincare Essentials

Edmonton beauty blogger travel skincare essentialstravel skincare essentials how to survive hotel Dry Skin Skincare

After spending the weekend in Lethbridge, Alberta (one of the windiest and driest cities in Alberta, especially during the winter) my skin felt like a raisin. I intentionally packed my only “ultra-hydrating” mask because I could tell it was going to be a rough weekend skinwise as soon as my girls wanted to go into the pool. The chlorine plus the dry hotel air made my skin a mess. I needed to make time to fix my skin with my travel skincare essentials that evening.

To fix my skin in the evening I washed my face with ice-cold water, gently exfoliated with just water and a face cloth. I applied the Pura Watermelon Mask then waited 10 minutes before washing it off. After I dried my face with a towel I applied first the Beauty Counter Face Oil and then Burt’s & Bees Radiance Night Cream.

The mask created this natural barrier for my skin and my skin instantly felt smoother after I rinsed it off. It smells great too – a lovely subtle watermelon scent.

What a weekend in Calgary! My 3 bffs and I made our way down this past weekend for a few days of relaxation and restoration. We are all in very different times in our lives right now, but we were all in agreement – we were ready for a girls trip!

Day 1 | We stayed downtown at Hotel Le Germain, right across from the Calgary Tower, and spent the first night walking 8th Avenue. We made our way over to National on 8th and played foosball (I showed off my fancy foosball skills, they can attest to that).

Day 2 | The next day we drove to southern Calgary and enjoyed lunch at Starbelly – I had seen many of my favourite Calgary bloggers snapchats and Instagram posts from Starbelly and knew I needed to go. It did not disappoint! The highlight of our meal was the brie and crostini board with honey, nuts, and cranberries.

From there we naturally stopped at Chinook Mall and we seemed to have a common theme in our shopping venture of stockings, booties, and tights.

That evening we traveled to 17th Avenue (I have heard so much about it) for supper at 80th & Ivy – I enjoyed braised lamb and gnocchi, and we may have devoured all 3 of their desserts: chocolate peanut butter cream pie oreo crumble, raisin butter tart, and salted caramel creme brûlée.

Day 3 | On our final day we stopped at Buttermilk Fine Waffles and devoured our H.A.M waffles and fruit waffles. After we topped off our caffeine intake at Rosso Coffee Roasters in Inglewood with some buttery smooth (my bffs laughed at my description but it’s legit…) lattes.

I can’t wait for my next trip down to Calgary and what places I will discover next! Follow my adventures on Instagram through #honeyandbettstravel.
