When you walk into the Starbelly restaurant in South Calgary, it is stunning! The open layout of the restaurant and kitchen, the exposed beams, the floor to ceiling windows. It’s a photographer’s dream and one of the best places to eat in Calgary!

The first thing my friends and I discussed when we arrived at Starbelly was how perfect the restaurant would be for a wedding rehearsal dinner or wedding – not even a few minutes later our waitress let us know that their private back room (which can host 50 seated guests or 80 guests for a standing cocktail reception) would be hosting a wedding in the next couple hours. We may have stayed to watch the wedding guests arrive, partly because we were so full after our meal and partly because we were intrigued to see our dreams come true at Starbelly!
Anyways, not only is the interior decor flawless in mix matching textures, colours, and patterns (I highly recommend a trip to their bathroom, I have a thing with pretty bathrooms… the dark green walls and tiled floors and copper hardware are to die for!) but the Starbelly brunch menu is one of those menus where you have to think long and hard, because there are so many delicious choices!
I started with the Breakfast Poutine, while we also ordered Chicken and Waffles (with arugula on top) and Ghetto Benny.
And I was super impressed with their mocktail (and cocktail) menus! It’s a rare occurrence to find carefully mixed mocktails that are not just juice. My Virgin Blackberry Garden Sour was fresh and enjoyable. While my friends had the beautiful, Spring-like 1908 G&T. How gorgeous is that purple colour!
Then to finish off our meal we dived into the dessert menu, is brunch complete without dessert? I’ll let you think about the correct answer.
I ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding, and we also ordered the PB&J Ice Cream Cake, and 2 Starbelly Doughnuts. Wow. Wow! Everything is made in house, even the ice cream cake!
I loved the Sticky Toffee Pudding because the toffee pudding was not too sweet and the addition of the vanilla gelato and salted caramel sauce added the perfect balance to the whole dessert. Plus it’s made with Fratello coffee so you know it’s the real deal!
