Toddler Snacks with Love Child Organics

Creating captivating snacks for wandering toddler fingers is now a new life skill I can put on my “resume” – you’re looking at the head chef, the sous chef and dishwasher.

Love Child Organics Teefies and Purees

Combinations: {mango & purple carrot Teefie, cream cheese, raspberries} {pears & beets Teefie, puree, watermelon} {pears & beets Teefie, avocado}

A new favourite of ours is mini sandwiches – I use the Love Child Organic Teefies as the base, either a spread (like cream cheese) or the Love Child Organic Purees pouches, and top with a fruit or vegetable.

How do you keep your toddler eating well?

Levana Willow | Video Baby Monitor Review

Levana Willow Video Baby Monitor ReviewNap time is so precious to me. It is my “me” time when I need a midday pickup and I value that time so highly. I usually will relax by watching Netflix or painting my nails or applying a mask.

Made In Canada Levana Video baby Monitor ReviewTouch Screen Video baby MonitorThe Best Video Baby MonitorI’ve been through a few of baby monitors over the last 3 years from simple audio monitors to video monitors – and the Levana Willow 5″ HD Touch Screen PTZ Video Baby Monitor combines all the features I loved from previous models into one.

Features like: silent pan tilt, microphone, wall mountable, private signal, feeding timer (which is so helpful for first time moms), lullabies and nature white noise, and touch screen.Levana Willow Video baby monitor

Another awesome feature is that you can add multiple cameras so that you can view them on the monitor. What’s even better? The Levana Willow is able to view 2-4 different cameras in a split screen. No more flipping between screens to see babies (or toddlers) – now you can see both babes at the same time without missing a thing. Canadian Blogger Reviews Video Baby MonitorLevana Willow Features

Love Pizza

Love Pizza (not to be confused as Pizza Love) is the newest pizza place in the heart of Edmonton and it is everything you want and more! Not only are the pizzas to die for and the staff lovely, but the monochromatic decor is eye catching and chic.

LOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTON

LOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTONI don’t like comparing local restaurants to chain restaurants (because locals work so hard to be different), but if I were to describe Love Pizza to you the system is similar to a combination of Famoso and Subway (but LovePizza uses local produce, dough, and drinks! I mention this later).

There is a menu of pizzas or you can build your own (they have vegan and vegetarian pizzas too!). You work down the line of sauces and toppings until it’s to your liking and then they slow bake your pizza. Love Pizza also offers gluten free options but advises against extreme gluten intolerances due to the chance that cross contamination may occur.

LOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTONI ordered the Ode to Ukraine pizza, it includes: Roasted Garlic Spread, Orange Cheddar, Shaved Potato, Irvings Farm Bacon, Caramelized Onion, Crème Fraiche, Green Onion. Check out the full menu here.

The Grizzly Paw Soda CompanyThe number one thing that I was most curious about Love Pizza is that they support other local Albertan businesses through using and serving their produce, grains, sodas and beers. We ordered The Grizzly Paw’s Black Cherry Cola and Cream Soda. They were delicious – I can now put that down as my favourite soda!

You can find the local businesses that Love Pizza supports, hereLOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTONLOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTON

LOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTONThe girls both ordered the City Market Pizza, it includes: Roasted Garlic Spread, Pesto Pulled Chicken, Artichoke Hearts, Cherry Tomato, Pickled Red Onion, Goat Cheese.

LOVEPIZZA HONEYANDBETTS EDMONTONWhy Love Pizza? Their story started with a first date at a local pizza place. They are dedicated serving pizzas that you will love, just like they fell in love over pizza. Who doesn’t love pizza?

First impressions are important. And when you walk into The Common the first impression you have is it’s a cool place. Don’t mistake it for being “too cool” where you feel out of place or doubt whether you should be there. The staff are welcoming and friendly, which is always a great addition when great customer service is dying in Alberta.

Trust me, the menu is anything but boring. My personal preferences are:

Wings & Things

Chicken & Waffles

Fish & Chips of The Week

Umami Burger

Horn of Plenty

I will always cherish The Common in my heart for it’s great food, best chicken and waffles in the city, and for being our escape on date night.

During the weekdays The Common opens for lunch and stays open late, turning into a bar in the evenings. And on Saturdays they are open for dinner and stay open until the wee hours of the night.

Roots + Wings

I’ve grown up listening to all kinds of music (you could say I went through all the phases) and now as family we have settled into our old country, Flat and Scuggs, and inspirational Christian songs. Every now and then we set my iPhone to replaying the same princess songs for Annaliese, but we try to refrain from that.

When Jaime approached me about her new album, Roots + Wings, I was quite excited because it’s been difficult finding music that appeals to both our 2 year olds taste and my own. When her album arrived in the mail I kept it in our car and listened to it all the time. Everything about the songs were beautiful and it touched my heart that God had sent Jaime these songs and then directed her to me. He sent me these songs through Jaime, intentionally.

A few weeks later my family experienced a loss. I remember reading the text message while I was sitting in the car listening to her music. I broke down in tears because the loss was about a baby. The car ride home I had tears streaming down my face – a combination of sorrow for my family members, not understanding God’s plan in it all, and the thankfulness for my two babies.

I know that it does not confirm in the Bible that babies go to heaven when they die because we are all born into sin, but I have faith that my God is merciful and just. He has each one of us in the palm of His hand. He knows our every need and cares for us.

The weeks following I played Roots + Wings over and over again, I found courage and strength that God was in control in Jaime’s music. It brought me comfort and a sense of peace listening to it.

Roots + Wings is the perfect gift for any children in your life that you are being intentional with. Spreading the word of God and touching lives is what we are called to do and this is the perfect transition piece to start that conversation with children today.

You can buy Jaime’s album here, or donate a CD to a local NICU here. Follow Jaime on her Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube accounts to keep up to date on her music

What 40 Weeks Pregnant Looks Like | Abigail’s Story

I made it to full term in this pregnancy – YAY! This is what 40 weeks pregnant looks like! I’m big, I’m uncomfortable, and I’m a jumble of emotions leading up to the birth of my second baby. But I can’t deny I’m very excited to meet him or her!

Hannah, from the popular Edmonton motherhood blog Honey & Betts, shares what does 40 weeks pregnant look and feel like? For the mom, it's just uncomfortable.

I am super nervous as my doctor has told me today that I haven’t dilated anymore than I was last week. I have another appointment booked and then if nothing is happening then I will be induced a few days after that appointment. I am thankful that my doctor knows that we wish to try to keep our birthing experience as natural as possible, so she’s given me a few days after that last appointment to go into natural labour before inducing me.

So, immediately after that appointment I took my toddler, Annaliese, for a stroller ride in the river valley and it was not a walk in the park (it was a dirt trail rollercoaster). Up hills, down steep hills (thankfully I had the brake on our jogging stroller to help me out), and then up a monster hill. Half way into our walk I was experiencing some painful cramping but I walked through it because in my brain if it hurts then I am that much closer to my baby.

Walking, bouncing on exercise balls, and drinking raspberry leaf tea are now my lifesavers. Though I am equally open to being induced as I am having a c-section, my only focus is to help this baby be born healthy and strong. Any prayers would be fantastic this week – for me and my baby!

P.S check out our fresh baby GIRL, Abigail.
